Privacy Policy
Last updated: 11 August 2026
BrainGyan Foundation ("we", "us") runs braingyan.org and its related projects. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, and what you can ask us to do with it.
The short version: we collect as little as possible, we never sell your data, and you can ask us to delete it at any time by emailing contact@braingyan.org.
What we collect
| Information | When | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Name, email address, phone number, postal address | When you donate, or contact us directly | To issue receipts, meet donation record-keeping obligations, and reply to you |
| Donation amount, date and payment reference | When you donate | Accounting, audit, and issuing tax-exemption receipts where applicable |
| Usage data — pages viewed, approximate location, device and browser type | Automatically, if analytics are enabled and you consent | To understand which parts of the site are useful |
We do not collect or store your card number, UPI PIN, CVV, or net-banking credentials. Payments are handled entirely by our payment gateway; those details never reach our servers.
Who we share it with
We share personal information only with service providers who need it to operate this site and process donations:
- Razorpay Software Private Limited — processes donations. Governed by Razorpay's own privacy policy.
- Google Analytics — if enabled and you have consented, provides aggregate usage statistics.
- Cloudflare and our hosting provider — deliver and protect the website.
We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information. We do not share donor lists with other organisations.
Cookies
The site uses cookies only where necessary for it to function, and for analytics where you have consented. You can block or delete cookies in your browser at any time; the site will still work.
How long we keep it
Donation records are retained for as long as Indian accounting, income-tax and audit requirements demand. Enquiry emails are kept only as long as needed to deal with your query. Analytics data is retained in aggregate form.
Your rights
You may ask us to:
- tell you what personal information we hold about you;
- correct anything that is wrong;
- delete your information, where we are not legally required to keep it;
- stop sending you communications.
Email contact@braingyan.org and we will respond within 30 days. We may ask you to confirm your identity first.
Children
Many of our programmes are delivered to children, but this website is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from a child through this site. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Photographs from our programmes
Photographs taken at workshops and donation drives may appear on this site and on our social media. If you or your child appear in a photograph and would like it removed, email us and we will remove it.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page.
