Refund Policy

This policy explains what happens if you need a donation refunded.
In short: donations are normally non-refundable, because they are committed to programmes quickly. But if you donated in error — wrong amount, duplicate payment, or a transaction you did not authorise — contact us within 7 days and we will put it right.
Why donations are normally non-refundable
We are a small volunteer-run organisation. Funds are allocated to notebook procurement, workshop logistics and programme delivery soon after they arrive, and are recorded in our accounts for audit and tax-exemption purposes. Reversing a donation after allocation creates real cost for the children the money was meant for.
When we will refund
We will refund a donation where:
- you were charged more than once for the same donation;
- you entered an amount in error — for example an extra digit;
- the transaction was not authorised by you;
- a technical fault caused an incorrect charge;
- you donated to a specific appeal that we were unable to carry out.
How to request a refund
Email contact@braingyan.org within 7 days of the donation with:
- the name the donation was made in;
- the date and amount;
- the Razorpay payment or order ID from your confirmation message;
- a short explanation of what went wrong.
What happens next

Refunds are always returned to the original payment method. We cannot refund to a different account.
Tax-exemption receipts
If a receipt eligible for deduction under Section 80G has already been issued for a donation that is later refunded, that receipt is cancelled and must not be used in a tax filing. We will confirm the cancellation to you in writing.
Cancelling recurring donations
If you have set up a recurring donation, email us and we will cancel it. Cancellation stops future payments; it does not automatically refund payments already made.
